Awarding the Kindness of Strangers

Trophy Central custom engraved award for Meghedi Khashaki

Not all angels wear wings.

Meghedi Khashaki certainly earned a pair in January. But since she’s an earth-dweller – and since Trophy Central doesn’t stock wings – we are delighted to honor her in the best way we know: a custom and personally engraved trophy!

Meghedi is the latest winner of our #ShowUsYourSue campaign that awards everyday heroes.

She was nominated by Bri Prooker, a writer, director and pit bull advocate, who had this to say about the Los Angeles-area woman:

“She found my mom’s wallet and contacted me on Facebook to let me know — and even dropped the wallet off to us! She’s a real-life angel. The wallet was returned with everything intact — including a wad of cash — and Meghedi put so much effort into finding us because she said she knew how worried we’d be with a missing wallet.

“We had just returned from a long walk at the park with our dogs Ivy and LuLU and had run some errands and the wallet got lost without us knowing until I received her Facebook message!

“Good people really do exist, and Meghedi is proof of that!”

We agree!

Stories like this are truly heartwarming and prove that Blanche DuBois’s belief in the kindness of strangers was not unwarranted.

Meghedi is a perfect example of someone doing a good deed without expecting anything in return. And that makes it all the sweeter to surprise her with an award for her Random Act of Trophy-ness.

That’s why our #ShowUsYourSue award, inspired by The Middle‘s Sue Heck character, goes to:

Meghedi Khashaki

For Excellence in Compassion, Honesty and Spirit.

Congratulations, Meghedi!

Katherine Kotaw, who owns a Los Angeles branding and content marketing firm with her daughters Bri and Kelsey, asked us to share her personal thank you to Meghedi:

“For years, I have been almost obsessively worried about losing my wallet – I panic within 10 seconds of misplacing it in the house. But I actually feel blessed that it fell out of my car a few nights ago (while maneuvering our exuberant dogs Ivy and LuLU into the backseat so I could sit behind the wheel).

“One of my worst fears was realized and I’m grateful because of Meghedi’s selfless act of tracking us down and personally returning the wallet to our home. She reminded me that fear is pointless – all of my worrying didn’t protect me from losing my wallet – and that it’s better to use my energy anticipating – and pursuing – positive outcomes.

“I’ve faced some pretty awful – and real – fears in my life. But I created an exaggerated fear about losing my wallet. So, thank you, Meghedi, not only for your kindness but for reminding me to replace my fears with appropriate caution – or banish them altogether.

“I hope the trophy reminds you that your compassion, honesty and spirit will be remembered always by my daughters and me.”

  1. Thank you so much, Trophy Central, for sending Meghedi a trophy for her act of kindness! She is truly a real life angel and her good deed has meant the world to my family and me (AKA The KOTAW Girl Gang!)

Your Show Us Your Sue campaign is making so many people smile and making such a difference in the world, just like Sue Heck from The Middle!

  2. What a wonderful story of honesty, compassion and kindness! Well done, Meghedi!!! This renews my faith in knowing that there really are kind people out there who choose to do the right thing!!! <3

    1. Thank you, Donna, for stopping by the Trophy Central blog to read about Meghedi’s incredible act of honesty and kindness. What you say in your comment is exactly the reason Trophy Central started the Random Acts of Trophy-ness “Show Us Your Sue” campaign: to renew people’s faith that there are GOOD people out in the world. There is so much news about all the bad things going on in the world and “Show Us Your Sue” is our attempt to combat that by rewarding the GOOD! We are grateful to everyone who sends us a story of someone doing something to make the better place so we can surprise that person with a trophy!
