We have been having some fun with Polyvore lately. We created an awesome sports room that any sports fanatic would want! If you are unfamiliar, Polyvore is an awesome site where you can create your own creations from fashion, to home settings to really anything with items you can find on the internet. Since we embrace creativity in everyone we totally love having fun with creating collections on Polyvore and what everyone else is able to create.
This is our sports room that we have created:
We were able to find some awesome items that you see int his room on the Polyvore site that people have already added to the site. Then we added some of our items to the site and then used them to create the ultimate sports bedroom for anyone.
We have added our Acrylic Baseball display case, because showing off your signed ball, or game winning ball is really the best way to go. There is no better place for your pride and joy than right where everyone can see it. You know everyone will ask about it. We also have our Rectangular Glass Football Case on one of the top shelves. A signed or game winning football is one of the best ways to decorate a room. Of course because these sports items are so important and valuable, we want them to stay as safe from damage as possible.
We have, of course, added a few of our trophies. Right next to the bed we have our baseball trophy with year trim. A place next to the bed on your night stand is a great place for current year trophies. That win is still fresh, so you are definitely going to want to see your trophy when you first wake up and when you go to bed! Start your day off right and end it right with some positivity and good memories.
One of our favorite awards is our Baseball Glove and Ball Award. This is so much fun, and really not like most trophies and awards. These are especially great for the young ones! They are of course so much fun to win, but look great in any kids room with any decor.. or toys! Plus, the darker stone color looks great against other shiny gold or silver trophies.
The last trophy we have on the shelf is one of our Metal Soccer Awards. These are so awesome because it takes the idea of a classic trophy with the color and shine, but them changed the shape from a tall column to exploding it into a soccer ball. What soccer player wouldn’t want to win a gold soccer ball and be able to see it every day on their shelf?
Polyvore is so much fun, and we recommend playing around with this if you can! Check out our page to get some inspiration and create your own set!
Send us a image or link of your dream sports room or any sort of sports set and we will share it! Can’t wait to see what you all create!
We love seeing when people can show off their beautiful trophies, awards and anything significant. Hearing that trophies often go unseen and stuck in the closet breaks our hearts. Show off everything you have ever worked so hard for, and show off anything that reminds you of a time that makes you happy or the journey you went through! The best decorations around the house or office are the ones that bring happy memories and joyful thoughts.
Trophies are amazing by themselves, but to compliment them, items from a sport and pictures from a sport or group really looks great next to them. They can give your display a variety, color contrast and dimension! Different items really work together and will give you even more amazing memories.
Send us a picture of your trophy display or sports memorabilia that makes you happy every time you look at it! We will post you on our facebook for everyone to see!
Once upon a time, the world of competitive sports was one of the only places where you would see someone win a trophy. In team competition, this was typically an all-or-nothing proposition — there was little recognition for third, or even second place competitors. Winning wasn’t everything, it was the only thing. In solo sports, however, the awarding of a second and third place was more commonly found. Today, as we seek to create a nurturing and encouraging environment for our children, trophies are the norm, even off the playing field. We reward our kids with trophies, not just for completing a certain task or for performing well on a test, but we give them trophies just for playing the game or showing up for an event. Are we really helping children by bestowing them with trophies for relatively trivial accomplishments?
Some people think that by removing competitiveness from children’s lives, we also remove their motivation to succeed. There are those who view this as a lowering of the bar for our kids. It is viewed as detrimental to the development of the child. Others feel that the opposite is true and that this practice is itself a form of encouragement that makes kids proud of their accomplishments and to try harder. They don’t view it as being about entitlement but rather, they see it as a way of recognizing the contributions of everyone regardless of who might be better than someone else at a particular task.
What do you think? We recently did a survey to find out!
It turns out that that the majority of those surveyed felt that it was totally appropriate to give out participation trophies – awards for playing, but not necessarily winning. However, this was only true in cases of young children. In fact, the percentage of those in favor of participation trophies went down as the age of the children went up. Of those surveyed, over 70% would give participation trophies to children eight years old or younger, while only 15% felt that they were appropriate for those between the ages of 13 and 16. This seems to suggest most people feel that arbitrarily giving trophies to everyone is not a good way to prime kids for the real world, but with young children there is no harm in encouraging them to participate by rewarding them for their efforts. Perhaps this won’t surprise anyone. What was a bit of a shock, however, was what we found out about who has a bigger soft spot, men or women. Surprisingly, it was the men who indicated they were in favor of participation trophies more than the women, irrespective of a child’s age. Lastly, only ten percent of men and women were in favor of giving trophies for just showing up! I think that’s important and dispels the notion that we are, as a whole, enabling our children to be uncompetitive or that kids will not demonstrate the drive to be successful at an early age just because we award them with participation trophies.
You might expect, as I did, that a large number of respondents would be in favor of giving out winner’s trophies. What’s interesting is, and what seems to correspond with the decline of participation trophies being connected to age, it turns out that for the younger age group, those children under eight, only 48% favored giving them winner’s trophies. So the message for this age group is that playing is more important than winning. As you move up the age groups though, rewarding winners appears to be more accepted, with 74% and 94% favoring handing out a first or second place trophy for the 12 and under and 16 and under categories, respectively. As expected, over 95% support giving a trophy to an adult winner, which shows that we never really outgrow wanting to win a trophy.
I think the takeaway from these survey results is pretty clear. There is a big difference in the way we treat young children as they get older. Children and adolescents do not think the same and they don’t act the same. Therefore, they are not and should not be treated the same. Most people feel that young children need the sort of encouragement that the awarding of a participation trophy can give them. However, if this survey is any indication of a common sense feeling among the public, older children should be instilled with the idea that nothing is given to you in life and you must work hard to earn your rewards. Understanding this simple survey goes a long way in settling the debate of whether or not handing out trophies to kids somehow makes them entitled, or unmotivated. Most people feel that there is an age appropriate answer to this question.

Winter sports are in full force! No matter what sport you may be in, you are working so hard! We especially salute the people who partake in winter sports because you are not only working so hard in your sports, but you are also dealing with school and the cold! Being able to balance a sport while being in school is outstanding. Time management is something very hard to learn, but being in a sport during school is something that can definitely help with that!
We love all sports, but some of our most popular winter sports are hockey, football, and gymnastics.
Hockey… Oh that great northern sport that we all can’t wait for. It seems that every year it just gets better and better. If you play hockey or are apart of a hockey family you know that hockey is definitely more of a life than just a sport. Hockey is definitely a sport that brings everyone together and really creates that bond. Being able to have something to show for all the hard work is the smallest thing we could do for you and your team. We have so many hockey trophies to remind you of all your hard work and the friendships you have created over the season.
Football is something that we all love to cheer for. Getting together at the high school and cheering for everyone we know is so much fun and really brings everyone together. Everyone is able to feel as if they are apart of something even if they aren’t on the team. We understand how much of an impact being on a team is for people and having something to show forth all of the hard work and dedication that has been put into it is really great. Being able to show off a trophy in the school display case is also amazing. It really holds that amazing legacy that will be left behind and always remembered.
A sport that is under recognized sometimes is gymnastics. We often forget how amazing gymnasts really are. Gymnasts are some of the strongest people all while having such grace and elegance. It is also such a tough sport because there is so much time and effort put in throughout the year all for a couple short exercised that has to be perfect, and we applaud this. Flawlessness is key and we have gymnastic trophies that will remind you that you are capable of this. That minute and a half was all worth it.
When you think of trophy do you immediately think of a sport like football, baseball or basketball? Most people do, but something that we take pride in is our large variety of different kinds of trophies. We offer trophies for pretty much everything. Just a small list of our more unconventional trophies include broomball, livestock / animal / tractor, and sailing trophies.
Broomball is a sport similar to ice hockey as it is played on a hockey rink with two teams. Each team has six players on the ice and the object of the game is to get the ball into the opponents net. The difference between hockey and broomball is that there are no ice skates, a small ball is used rather than a puck, and they use sticks with rubber ends shaped like brooms rather than hockey sticks. This is a fun recreational game for anyone to play. Being able to offer a trophy at the end of a fun broomball game or season will be a fun way to wrap up all of the fun you had with your team and friends.
People may not know, but competing in livestock / animal / and tractor competitions is really a big thing. People work so hard to get their animals into the perfect condition for showing. People commonly show their pigs, cattle, chickens, horses, goats and plenty more. These competitions consist of judges looking at muscle, structural correctness, frame size, style and balance of the livestock. People take a large pride in their farm animals, and work so hard to get them looking perfect for competition. We have a great selection of livestock trophies just for this, and just like any other competition, a trophy is definitely something the winner is going to want to show off.
When most people think of sailing, they probably think of it as a leisure activity that is relaxing, but little do these people know that there is a large competition for sailing. There are different varieties of competitive sailing, but the main goal of the competition is a race between the sailboats. Competitive sailing requires talent and skills just like any other sport or activity, and that is why we offer a beautiful selection of sailing trophies, that any sailor would want to show off.
Maybe after hearing about just a few of our unconventional trophies we have to offer, maybe it will get you up to try a new activity and broaden your spectrum!
